About your workshop leader:

Ian Curran
Head of Telematics and M2M Communications

Ian has 30 years’ experience in the IT/Telecoms sector, gained with British Rail, BT, Next, O2 and The Telematics Partnership.

Joining O2’s Value Added Services group in 1997 As Business Development Manager for Transport, Ian is currently responsible for M2M Telematics products and has significantly shaped the industry with his various achievements, including: 

  • The development and market launch of the O2 1200 Traffic Line, the UK’s first real-time LBS traffic information service
  • Enhanced location accuracy and policy in support of the 112/999 service through engagement with the EEC Commission and UK Government
  • Ian co-authored the paper "The Effective Use of GSM for Accurate Location Positioning", published in 1999 by Oxford University Press for the Institute of Navigation
